For several years, Rashid was also full time faculty member teraching economics at the prestigious Bogazici University, former Robert College in Istanbul. 

Following his retirement as a full time faculty member,  Rashid has continued to teach a course which he designed on the relationship between economics and religion at the same university,  while concentrating on his career as a tour guide.

His academic background provides Rashid with a depth of scope and perception, which few other guides would posses, on the history and historical riches of Turkey as well as on the current issues which Turkey faces.
